Solve |7 – 2x| = 4 Answer x = {3/2} x = {0} x = {3/2, 11/2} No Solution

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To solve an absolute value equation like this one, you get rid of the absolute value signs by transforming it into two regular equations separated by the word "or." The firs equatin is like the given equation, just drop the absolute values signs. The second equation is obtained by dropping the absolute signs, and taking the negative of the right side. Solve this compound equation: 7 - 2x = 4 or 7 - 2x = -4 To get the solution, solve each equation normally, then you'll have two solutions separated by the word "or".
