Is my answer right? Simplify: 3x^2 + 21x - 54 ________________ x^2 + 3x - 54 = 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get it? mine is not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm wrong:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Unless they give you a value of X, the intent of this problem is to get you to factor both equations, not to find a number at the end.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, wrong copy. the right one is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3+\frac{ 12x+108 }{ x^2+3x-54 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This factors past the equation given above. Factoring x^2+3x-54 gives us (x - 6) (x + 9). 12x+108 is 12(x+9) so this can factor to \[3+\frac{ 12 }{ x+6 }\]

perfect! good combination
