Why is CO2 released during the oxidations of the Krebs Cycle? Does giving electrons break the bonds that hold the CO2 groups?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i would think that it's given off because it can't be further oxidized and thus it's thermodynamically stable.. and yep, since electrons are essentially what holds 2 atoms together (although there can exist electrostatic interactions such as those observed in ionic bonds or hydrogen bonds), giving off electrons can break bonds, specially in organic compounds in which most bonds are 2 center-2 electron bonds.

@aaronq Aaron by any chance can you help me? Please please I'll give you a medal for each question
