Find the inverse Laplace Transform of (s+4)/(s^2+8s+17)

OpenStudy (experimentx):

|dw:1363382717681:dw|

the example in the book is pretty tough to make sense of, I am not sure what I am supposed to do next? Why did you have to re-write the denominator?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

what factor shifts the value of s?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh wait, you just try to re-write each transform and just follow a table? i see there is a table that says e^alphax(cos betax) = (s-alpha)/(s-alpha)^2 + beta^2 so alpha is just -4 and beta is 1, so the f(x) = e^-4x cos x ??? this correct?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yes ... e^(-ax) shifts the value of the transform ... while is is in the form of cos(bx) .. not that difficult .. is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope not at all, well I guess depending on what i need to deconstruct.... so i need a e^-4x sin x to go with that as well right?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

i almost forgot everything with laplace transform
