can someone explain to me how the rational root theorem, the fundamental theorem of algebra and descartes work together to find a root? fundamental theorem is that you have as many roots as the largest degree in a polynomial function, right? descartes tells you how many pos roots you have from the sign change in f(x) and how many neg roots you have from the sign change in f(-x), right? what is the rational root theorem?? how do i apply these to finding a root with synthetic division?
