I see that these are the same questions as the ones in the last post that you made. I was just explaining the Spanish past tense. Learning how to conjugate, in the past tense, would help you answer all these questions. Have you read my explanation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep while conjugating the words can end mios este etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so how about a little exercise, just to make sure you've got it? I've got an (AR) verb here: HABLAR Can you conjugate it into the past tense (Ellos/Ellas) form for me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hablos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@LilySwan you r in the best hands with @InYourHead !!! best teacher ever... especially spanish and bio... very explained answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep he explains nicely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would actually be "Hablaron." Here, let's take a look at my BUSCAR list again, okay? ~~~~~~~ (Yo) Busqué --- I searched (Tú) Buscaste --- You searched (Él/Ella/Usted) Buscó --- He/She searched (Nosotros) Buscamos --- We searched (Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes) Buscaron --- They searched ~~~~~~~~~ See the (Ellos/Ellas) form? It says "Buscaron." That's because we added on the new "aron" ending.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if it ellas or ellos that it will be habaron

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember, just two easy steps here. Step 1: Take off the (AR) ending. Step 2: Add on a new ending, depending on what we want the word to mean. ~~~~~~~~~~ It would be "hablaron." We gotta spell it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are all the endings that we can add: é --- (YO form) aste --- (TU form) ó --- (EL/ELLA/USTED form) amos --- (NOSOTROS form) aron -- (ELLOS/ELLAS form)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We gotta memorize these endings. You can write them down, if it will help you memorize it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, let's try to answer our first question. It starts with this sentence: "¿Buscaste el perfume para tu hermana?" Can you tell me what the word BUSCASTE means, in English?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

search

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Searched" PAST tense, remember. ~~~~~~ And WHO is the word talking about? Who is the subject? Does it mean "I searched"? Does it mean "He searched?" Who did the searching?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember, we're talking about BUSCASTE. You can look at my Buscar list again, if you need to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I searched

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It actually means "YOU searched." "Buscaste" is the TU form, of "buscar." And TU means YOU.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you look at my list, you'll see that "Busqué" means "I searched." I wrote the meanings, right next to the words. See?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i means within the answer choice or according to the question is the i person soughting out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i got the wrong meaning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know. I know what you mean. We do have to answer the question in the YO form. As in "I searched." But we're not that far yet. I just wanted you to tell me what "Buscaste" meant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you searched

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's fine. In order to fill in the blanks to your questions, we need to translate everything else, first. Yes? ~~~~~~~~ ¿Buscaste el perfume para tu hermana? BUSCASTE means "You searched for." Could you translate the rest of the sentence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you searched the perfume for your sister

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that's pretty much what it means. "You searched for the perfume for you sister?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And now, we have to answer the question! When we answer this question, we need to use the YO form, of "buscar." What's the YO form of "buscar">

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Busqué

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great! Now there are two options with Busqué. La Busqué or Lo Busqué

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We're talking about EL PERFUME. It is an MASCULINE noun. So, we have to say LO. Get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep lo Busqué

OpenStudy (anonymous):

indeed 1. D. lo, busqué

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LO is MASCULINE. LA is FEMININE. Gotta remember that rule. It's easy. ~~~~~~~~~ Now we have it! "Lo busqué" means "I searched for it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Next one. "¿Cuándo compraste estos relojes pulseras?" "When did you buy those watch bracelets?" We're talking about RELOJES, here. It's a PLURAL, MASCULINE noun. So, which would we use? LOS or LAS?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Los

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next question. MIRAR is another (AR) verb. And in the first blank, we need to change it into the TU past tense. What's the TU past tense form of MIRAR? ~~~~~~ Remember, step 1, take off the ending. Step 2, add on the new TU ending.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tu Miraste

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's the list for you: é --- (YO form) aste --- (TU form) ó --- (EL/ELLA/USTED form) amos --- (NOSOTROS form) aron -- (ELLOS/ELLAS form)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right! Miraste.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the FIRST blank. Now, the SECOND blank, we're talking about "electrodomesticos." It's a PLURAL, MASCULINE noun. So what do we say? LO, LOS, or LAS?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Los

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There you go. You've got your answers for that question. Miraste, and los.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next question. The verb we're talking about is JUGAR. It's another (AR) verb. We need to find the past-tense YO form. What is it? You know? ~~~~~~~~~ Remember the steps! Here's you list again: é --- (YO form) aste --- (TU form) ó --- (EL/ELLA/USTED form) amos --- (NOSOTROS form) aron -- (ELLOS/ELLAS form)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Jugué

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's a rule i'm gonna tell you about. And it's one we gotta remember. Whenever there's a blank after.... Voy a.... Vas a.... Va a.... Vamos a.... Van a.... We need to use an INFINITIVE verb. And INFINITIVE verb is a verb that has NOT been conjugated. Has NOT been changed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example! ..... "Yo voy a COMPRAR." You see how "comprar" is infinitive? It still has its (AR) ending. I didn't change it at all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Infinitive verbs have NOT been changed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if there is an infinite verb we not going to change its ar ending

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what an infinitive verb is, yes. An infinitive verb is a verb that ends with the letter R. It has not been changed. COMPRAR is infinitive. So is HABLAR. And BUSCAR. And COMER. you get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so answer can be C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so let's take a look at this. "Ayer vi un collar muy bonito en la joyería." "Yesterday, I saw a very pretty necklace in the jewelry store." "Hoy, voy a ______." "Today, I'm going to ____"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is C!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Comprarlo! Because there's an infinitive verb in there: COMPRAR. Buen trabajo. (Good job)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool iam getting it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. So let's check you answers again, okay? 1. lo, busqué 2. Los 3. Miraste, los 4. Jugué 5. Comprarlo
