ABCD is a trapezoid. segment AB = 1 cm and segment CD = 5 cm, and the area = 7.5 cm2. What is the altitude of the trapezoid?

I see this is your first openstudy question I just wanted to welcome you to open study WELCOME TO OPEN STUDY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks.... Can you help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not very good at math here @qweqwe123123123123111

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area of a trap = ((a+b)/2) * H So H would be area / ((a+b)/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know how you get a & b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BTW, I have it drawn so that "a" is "AB" and "b" is "CD". My "H" is the same as "altitude". Sorry for not defining all that for you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So H is 2.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BTW...again... :-) I have the trap drawn with AB across the top and CD being the bottom parallel section.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES!! You got it! :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good job!! :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have another question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If 178°, and = 42°, what is m∠BDC?
