6. A chunk of ice whose temperature is –20°C is added to an insulated cup filled with water at 0°C. What happens in the cup? The ice melts until it reaches the temperature of the water. ***The water cools until it reaches the temperature of the ice.*** Some of the water freezes, so the chunk of ice gets larger. none of the above (maybe?)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

can you eliminate any?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ell deff not C im stuck because ice sometimes kinda melts and the drink cools...... Oh my god u just made me thing even harder!! It has to be B?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

if it was B, wouldn't the water freeze because it's freezing point it's zero degrees?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i think the key fact about this question is that it's at that temperature, if it was above zero, say 10, some of the ice would melt and the liquid would be cooled. but it is C, because it's right at the freezing point temperature

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmm ok so ice would get bigger?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yeah, but only because the temperature of the water is so low.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

KK yeah that does make sence

OpenStudy (aaronq):

k cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THank u that was right

OpenStudy (aaronq):

duh lol jk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (aaronq):
