Help!!!! 4x = 6(x - 4) x=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Firstly distribute 6 to (x-4)...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once you do that then get the x's on the same side..then divide.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x=6x-24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then get the x's on one side, so subtract 6x from each side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, subtract 4x both the sides..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the part where im stuck at? can someone help draw where im supose to do this step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtracting 4x would put the variable and numbers on the same side, subtracting 6x will get them on opposite sides and less steps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or you can subtract 6x from both the sides also... Do in whatever way you like them most..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, here Subtracting 6x will look like this: \[4x - \color{red}{6x} = 6x - 24 - \color{red}{6x}\]

thanks @waterineyes and @Hope_nicole @Hope_nicole don't you divide -2 on both sides which will equal positive 12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you will!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is no doubt in it, that is the part she left for you.. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D Thanks!!!
