Diana factored 75a2 + 27d2 using the following steps. 75a2 + 27d2 = 3(25a2 + 9d2) = 3(5a + 3d)(5a − 3d) Determine whether Diana factored this binomial correctly. If not, use complete sentences to explain what she did wrong and how she could check her factors for accuracy in the future.

Hi again :) I will try to help you with this problem also :)

K THANKS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, in the first step, Diana factored out 3, and got 3(25a^2+9d^2). The first step is to ask yourself, did Diana make any errors, such as division errors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YEA?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so the first step is right sure but the second is wrong because the (25a^2 + 9d^2) Diana considered different of two squares what not is so this is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first step is fine, but 25a² + 9d² does not factor (it's prime). It would need to be the DIFFERENCE of two squares: 25a² - 9d² = (5a - 3d)(5a + 3d) difference of squares: 4x² - 9y² with GCF of 2: 8x² - 18y² ?? CAN I SAY THIS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it is incorrect because she didn't do the difference of two squares step properly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the future, to avoid having these mistakes, Diana can always simplify her binomial to see if it matches the original binomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

She cannot do difference of two squares if the two squares are being added.

THANKS GUYS
