Given b = 2 and h = 8, what is the equation of the graph if the parent function is y=sqrt x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a very idiosyncratic question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does \(b\) represent? what is \(h\) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sounds like a reprimand ^ T.T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x-h)+b\]? \[f(x+h)+b\] without knowing what the form is, it is hard to know it is not a reprimand of the asker, it is a reprimand of the person who wrote the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe it is \(f(x+b)+h\) if you say what the form is, we can answer the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@PeterPan is there some sort of standard form for the \(b\) and \(h\) that i am unaware of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there is, I'm not aware of it neither :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another math teacher who expects you to read his/her mind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@katlin95 do you know what form this \(b\) and \(h\) are supposed to take?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i.e. could it be \[y=\sqrt{x-2}+8\] for example, or \[y=\sqrt{x+2}+8\] or \[\sqrt{x+8}+2\]?
