1) I think you're right with (B), especially during the Cold War when both the US and USSR were looking for allies on the world stage. 2) You're right with (C), so good job! Gandhi was a man of peace -- not of bloodshed which the other answers speak to. 3) Yep, (D) is right, too. 4) I think (B) might work better here. A Non-aligned nation is one that isn't technically aligned with any other power bloc or country -- such as the US. The movement was particularly significant during the Cold War when the US and USSR represented two sides eagerly looking for allies everywhere else. A non-aligned nation then was one that didn't actively support either side. 5) That's right, Ho Chi Minh (A) was the president of North Vietnam after the partition. The others don't make much sense such as Ngo Dinh Diem who was the first president of South Vietnam. 6) (C) is absolutely right. At the time, the US was pursuing its policy of containment and supported nations/allies that stood in the way of Communism. 7) Nope, you're right. (D) socialism was what Nasser pursued as what he believed to be the right direction for his country's development (Nasserism, which still exists in some form today). 8) I think (A) works for this one. As decolonization spread, a number of nations suddenly found themselves with the power to decide their own fates. Unfortunately, they sometimes didn't have the kind of political or social infrastructure to smooth the transition resulting in a lot of voices speaking at once, sometimes with bullets, to gain power. It's still a problem with a few African countries today as various groups continue to vie for power. 9) Nope, you're right with (C). Even after gaining independence, the country decided to maintain apartheid policies for decades afterward. 10) Yep, (D) sounds good to me. South Africa was eventually barred from the Olympics because of apartheid, so that makes the most sense.
