= 2x – 1 and g(x) = –2x – 1. (3 points) Part 2: Compare and contrast the domain and range of f(x) and g(x). (3 points) I already did the domain part, I am just stuck on the range.

@amistre64 @hartnn @Callisto @ParthKohli @AravindG @TuringTest Please help me :)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

both f(x) and g(x) are linear functions on x ,graphically both represents straight lines so the range will be set of real numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :) but I was confused on how the ranges are going to be different @AravindG

OpenStudy (aravindg):

both ranges will be set of reals :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks @AravindG :), the other part of my question asks how are the ranges of the two graphs different from each other and I was also wondering for that part.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AravindG could you please just help me with that part?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

As explained by @AravindG, the domain and range of both functions are the set of ALL real numbers. There is no difference whatsoever between them. To understand why, try to imagine this: you can put ANY number in f or g, because: f only doubles that number and then subtracts 1. Easy. Could be done with any number. g multiplies it with -2 and then subtracts 1. Also easy. Could be done with any number. So the domain of both f and g are all the real numbers. Now try this: Take any real number. You can always add 1 and then divide by 2. So any number can be the outcome of f. You could also add 1 an then divide by -2. So any number can also be the outcome of g. So the range of both f and g are all the real numbers.

Thanks :D
