3cosx+1=2secx

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

This a solve one? Looks like it. If so, set to 0, factor, solve the factors. That would be the basics of it.

Okay, thanks

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

start with \[3\cos(x) + 1 = \frac{2}{\cos(x)}\] multiply each term by cos(x) \[3\cos^2(x) + \cos(x) = 2.... or.... 3\cos^2(x) + \cos(x) - 2 = 0\] you now have a quadratic equation that can be factorised. hope this helps
