x^2+12x+32/x^2-16 Divided by x+8/x-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factor the top and bottom to find (x+8) on the top and (x-8) on the bottom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To expand on that you can see that in the first equation: x^2+12x+32 Since the last number is 32 and you're looking for an (x+8) in there, then you know the other (x - y) contains a 4, and since it's all positive the format will be (x + y)(x + z). So it's something like (x+8)(x+4). Test it and see. Next: x^2-16 This format is the (x - y)(x + z) format, and since there's a 16 there and you're looking for an (x - 8) then you will probably find it's (x-8)(x+2). Test that as well. Then divide once you factor it.
