After a neutralization reaction is complete, what two amounts in the solution are equal? What is the pH of a neutral solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm pretty sure the pH would be 7, but I'm not sure about the first question :s

OpenStudy (abb0t):

pH for a neutral solution is 7. Anything GREATER than 7 is basic and anything LESS than 7 would be acidic.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

For neutralization, you would have something like NaOH + HX <-> NaX + water where "X" represents some halogen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would that make the amounts of Na equal? Thanks for your help, by the way, it's greatly appreciated :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The amounts of acid and base are equal? Is that the answer to the first question, then? Sorry, I'm really behind in chem.
