"That which we do not believe, we cannot adequately say; even though we may repeat the words ever so often." — Ralph Waldo Emerson Have you observed what Emerson describes in his quotation?
dont understand please help
thank you it is hard
it sounds like he's describing events where we refuse to believe something and cannot give an adequate reason for not believing it...but we repeat on giving this inadequate reason
also do you agree with what he saying
if that's true, then here's an example People believed that the world was flat at one point in history. When new evidence suggested that the world was actually round, people who still believed it was flat wouldn't believe the new evidence. They would stick to the old belief using their old reasons, even if they weren't adequate reasons.
And they would repeat these inadequate reasons over and over again to reaffirm their flawed beliefs
or i guess better yet, it would be a case where the flat-earthers wouldn't believe that the earth is round they would say "i don't believe it's round" and others would respond "why don't you believe it's round?" and the flat-earthers would say back "I just don't believe it's round" and they may repeat this response over and over again even though it's a lousy argument
you help me because i dont understand thank you
