What is the difference of 2/x-4 - 7x-28/(x-4)2? Choices are: -5x/x-4, x ≠ −4 36-5x/(x+4)(x-4), x ≠ −4, 4 24-5x/(x-4)2, x ≠ 4 -5/x-4, x ≠ 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the 3rd answer correct?

OpenStudy (phi):

\[ \frac{2}{x-4} - \frac{7x-28}{(x-4)^2} \]

OpenStudy (phi):

my first thought is factor a 7 from the top of the 2nd fraction. can you do that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure

OpenStudy (phi):

if you have 7( x - 4) and "distribute the 7" what do you get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I don't think the 2nd or 3rd answers are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it the 4th answer

OpenStudy (phi):

Sorry, I don't like guessing the answer. If you can't distribute the 7 in 7( x - 4) the say so. If you don't want to learn, please say so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I want to learn I just keep confusing myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can anyone please tell me if the 4th answer is correct?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so if you have factorized out the 7 what will get there in numerator ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

and if there is in numerator the same term with inside denominator what can you makeing with this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you
