help me solve the sum 8 (i) part http://www.math-only-math.com/worksheet-on-rational-numbers.html

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Hello there ty for becoming my fan I should have all your answer in about 10 min.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (nathan917):

@msingh Or would you like to know how yo find them for future references?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well u want to know how i solve it

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Rational number=An integer or a fraction. denominator= 1.The number below the line in a common fraction; a divisor. 2.A figure representing the total population in terms of which statistical values are expressed.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Whats this http://www.math-only-math.com/worksheet-on-rational-numbers.html?

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Your test?.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

If it is idc just asking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no , itried searching sample papers and worksheets on internet and i found this, in this there is sum no, 8 part(i) arrange in ascending order

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Also you said you just need help with 8?.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mentioned sum no. 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i apolosize

OpenStudy (nathan917):

So arrange (i) 4/-9, -5/12, 7/-18, -2/3 in order?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (nathan917):

k, we have to make them decimals. which is an easy way to arrange them.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

have too? no but it is a simple method nonetheless. i was going to suggest percentages :)

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Yes or that :D

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if yo have no calculators handy, youd want to determine a common denominator for comparisons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but, i solved like this, plsee wait i m attaching something i know u friends are saying right but i know another method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my pblm is how to write -5/12

OpenStudy (amistre64):

find a better common denominator :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18

OpenStudy (nathan917):

have the answer if you want it.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

start with the denoms, and "reduce" them in a systematic fashion /9 /12 /18 /3 = d , multiply it all by 3 /3 /4 /6 /1 = 3d , multiply it all by 3 again /1 /4 /2 /1 = 9d , multiply it all by 4 /1 /1 /1 /1 = 36d , the least common denominator is 36

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Rewriting as fractions or any negatives if necessary: -4/9, -5/12, -7/18, -2/3 The least common denominator (LCD) is: 36. Rewriting as equivalent fractions with the LCD: -16/36, -15/36, -14/36, -24/36 Ordering these fractions by the numerator: -24/36 < -16/36 < -15/36 < -14/36 Therefore, the order of your input is: -2/3 < 4/-9 < -5/12 < 7/-18

OpenStudy (nathan917):

That help...

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Ty for medal @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, you did good :)

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Ty. try to get my smart score up only been like 12 days and i got it to 60 :D

OpenStudy (nathan917):

59* almost 60 :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 & @nathan917 Do i have two medals to give and a big thank you from my side to both of u

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thanks is reward enough, so long as you understood the method/material

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Ty. He gave me one and you gave him one seems right :D Yes.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

But its really about helping people. idc really about the medals but they are ok..
