OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mitosis a type of cell division resulting in cells with the same number of chromosomes with the parent cell and meiosis is a cell division that produces gametes and results in cells with half number of chromosomes found in a parent cell.

Ahhhhhh, also what are the different stages? Like what happens at each?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well mitosis and meiosis has the same stages but different things occur Mitosis- occurs in somatic cells and all other cells other than sex cells Meiosis- occurs in gametes and sex cells Mitosis- Prophase Prometaphase(some textbooks might not include this stage but it is part of it) Metaphase Anaphase Telophase Produces 2 haploid daughter cells Meiosis- Prophase 1 Prometaphase 1 Metaphase1 Anaphase1 Telophase1 Prophase 2 Prometaphase 2 Metaphase2 Anaphase2 Telophase2 Produces 4 haploud daughter cells
