What Does This Mean ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

false dichotomy A) Claims something is true because most people accept the claim B) Identifies only two choices in a situation, one of which is not a viable choice C) Claims that if an action is taken, it will inevitably lead to an undesirable event or series of events D) Uses a spokesperson who is not an expert on the issue E) Makes a conclusion based on insufficient evidence

OpenStudy (baconbits):

Howdy. A false dichotomy is when you see only two options, when there really are more. It's sometimes called an "either-or fallacy" because you decide EITHER one option OR another. For example, "you're either with us or against us." It's a false dichotomy, since you could be with a different group, or you could be neutral. (B is the best answer.) If you need any more, this is a decent website that explains all the popular logical fallacies. A,C,D, and E are all covered on this webpage: http://web.cn.edu/kwheeler/fallacies_list.html :)
