subtract: x/x^2 - 2/x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are you trying to solve for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its simplifying functions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need to simplify it thats all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify 1st fraction you get 1/x ok so you have to 1st get a common denominator which means multiply the 1st fraction top&bottom by (x+1) and the 2nd fraction by x \[\frac{ x+1 -2x}{ x^2+x} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify that and you get \[\frac{ 1-x }{ x^2+x }\]
