How to find the zeros of y=4x-1/x . I know I have to set y=0 and solve, but I don't know how to isolate the x.

OpenStudy (phi):

set it = to 0 4x -1/x =0 multiply both sides by x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thank you .

OpenStudy (phi):

what did you get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1/2 and 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=4x--1/x or y=\[y=\frac{ 4x^{2}-1 }{ x } ,for y to be defined x \neq0 ,\to find the zeroes of y ,y=0 gives 4x ^{2}-1=0 ,4x ^{2 }=1 ,x ^{2}=\frac{ 1}{ 4 }, x=\pm \frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\]
