Why did the Cold War start? At the end of World War II, the Soviet Union and the United States competed for global influence and power. At the start of World War II, Hitler's pact with Stalin forced the United States to attack the Soviets before they joined the Allies. At the end of World War II, Stalin believed that the United States and other western democracies were preparing to attack. At the end of the Korean War, the Soviet Union believed the United States had successfully stopped the spread of communism in Asia.

Its C.

The cold war is basically called cold because there were no real battles like tanks and bombs. It is the war in which capitalism/democracy vs. communism/dictatorship. It all started when communist USSR had a conference near the end of WWII in Yalta, there Stalin promised FDR he would allow democratic elections in Eastern Europe, which was completely dominated by Russia(USSR). Later, in 1945, in a conference called Potsdam conference, FDR died so Harry S. Truman became President. Stalin and Truman talked again and Stalin said "just kiddin´" which meant that he would not allow the elections he promised earlier to FDR. Tensions grew higher and higher thru the decades. for example 1949 was one of the worst years because China turned communist and the Soviets tested their(ours, they stole and spied on our secrets) first A-bomb, Atomic bomb. The Decades of the fifties and sixties where the worst because of the Berlin wall and the U-2 incident, which almost triggered WWIII. the other thing was that Cuba also turned communist, which was a target of communism, to inspire other countries to become communist.

I'm not so sure. I'd probably go with the first choice (A). The Cold War was largely a competition for influence across the world as both Western Democracy and Communism fought to make themselves the premier powers.
