OpenStudy (jim766):

start by naming you variables B will be the number of cards Bill has T will be the number of cards Time has (what kind of name is that anyway?) Bill has 5times cards as Time B = 5T this is our first equation Bill and Time have 167 cards together B + T = 167 this is our other equation follow me so far

OpenStudy (jim766):

Time has 3 fewer than 4 times # of cards as Fred T = 4T - 3 here is another equation

OpenStudy (jim766):

are you sure you have this problem written correctly? usually wont have 3 equations with only two variables
