Can someone explain vertical asymptotes to me? Like how to find them and stuff. Im so lost..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can find vertical asymptotes where the denominator of a rational function is zero. e.g. with \[f(x) = \frac{x+2}{x-7}\] there is a vertical asymptote with the equation x = 7. This is because you can't divide by zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its always the opposite of what is in the denominator's spot? like if its x+3 it'd be x=-3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, whatever x-value makes the denominator 0.

Thank you so much

No problem :)
