Which is a constant in the expression 6j-1+2k ?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Which one can not change, if you change j and k? eg if k=0 and j=0, which term will remain the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

options are A.1 B.6J C.2 D. k what is a constant ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 would remain the same ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@agent0smith ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can someone plz explain :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

variables are expressions that change example: x is a variable because it can take on numbers like 2, 7, 139, etc something like 2, without any variables, is a constant because it never changes: it's always 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah a constant is the # without any variables.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so in something like 2x+3y + 10 x and y are the variables 2x and 2y are the variable monomials and 10 is the constant because 10 never changes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

2x and 3y are the variable monomials*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 has this under control ;D lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand thank you :) !!! so the answer is A.1 right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I would go with -1, but 1 is close enough I guess

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

1 would remain the same ? Correct, making it the constant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, it would be -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you ! I will be posting more question I could really use you guys help <3 !! :)
