Write three irrational numbers between 4 and 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt(16) = 4 and sqrt(25) = 5 That leaves you with a whole range to choose from.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.33, 4.5 <-(repiten 5), and 4.75 <-(repiten 5 again) Are these okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is "repiten" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i spelled it wrong i know it means a repeating decimal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, is one of the options you are looking at 4.333 with the 3 repeating? If that is what you are asking, then no, that is not irrational. That is just 4 and 1/3 or 13/3, which is rational. You don't have to come up with any because I suggested 8 irrational numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the 3 isnt repeating

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really, though. for example, sqrt(17) is greater than sqrt(16) and less than sqrt(25). In other words, it is between 4 and 5 already.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was on the 4.5 the 5 was.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the 3 is not repeating, then 4.33 = 4 and 33/100 or 433/100. That is also rational. It is not irrational. For a number to be irrational, it cannot be expressed as p/q where p and q are integers and q not = 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.55 with a repeating 5 is also rational. For a decimal to irrational, it has to be non-repeating and non-terminating.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay i dont get this i just wanna get me home work done and over with!!! D:< RAAHHHHHHHHH I hate home work!! >:P Bleh.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then sqrt(17), sqrt(18), sqrt(19) are 3 irrational numbers between 4 and 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just check those 3 with a calculator and you'll see.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG THANK YOUZ!! I GET IT KNOW! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good job! Sometimes it takes a second for a concept to sink in but I think you have it now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes and thanks so much i really appreciate it! :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're very welcome! Nice working with you!
