OpenStudy (anonymous):

-X + 5Y = 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you want to find?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SOLVE FOR Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, you want y alone on one side of the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES PLEASE

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

add x to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, you x+-x+5y=10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10+x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then divide equation by 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5y/5=(10+x)/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and there you go.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO WOULD THAT BE Y = 2 + X?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, Y=2+x/5

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

-x + 5y = 10 (add x to both sides) -x + x + 5y = 10 + x 5y = 10 + x y = 10/5 + x/5 y = 2 + x/5.....I am not sure about this...it looks weird ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

MY TEACHER SAYS IT SHOULD ANSWER Y = 1/5X +2 I AM CONFUSED WHERE THE 1/5 COMES FROM

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oh...I got it.....x/5 =1/5x because the x has a 1 in front of it.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

the same as if it were x/3.....x/3 = 1/3x. That is just an example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GOT IT. JUST A LITTLE CONFUSED, BUT I HAVE IT NOW. THANKS

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

It threw me off too...you were not the only one ...lol
