OpenStudy (aaronq):

is K as a cation and Li both +1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand you @aaronq which one is the right option

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i know when i wrote that i thought i was confusing too.|dw:1367939001359:dw| Elements want to achieve an octet (8 valence electrons), in order to do that they lose or gain electrons. for example Li loses one electron to become a 1+ cation Na also loses 1 electron and become 1+ cation both are in group 1 similarly for group 2 Mg becomes a 2+ cation and Ca become a 2+ cation.. see the pattern?
