Find the equation of each line in slope intercept form: With x-intercept =-3 and Y intercept =4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@juanjohnguy do u know this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me quickly look up the slope intercept form since the equation ecsapes me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well there are multiple ways to do this....you could graph the two points that they give you or you can get the formula by looking at what they give you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x intercepts just means that when x is equal to zero then we get that value for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y intercept just means the same but when y is equal to zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would probably be easiest to get the solution would be to make a graph and plot the pionts.....and you can find the slope that way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and to find the "b" in the y = mx+ b equation....you need to think about what value you can give for either y or x to make it so that y can equal a number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because rememeber that in the y = mx+b equation....the m and the b are numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what did u get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh hold on let me do it quickly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well tell me what you got?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know but i did the other one so do u know it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I do but I'm not usually the type to give out answers lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats why I said that tell me what you got and I will confirm if it is right or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like I said you can find the slope for the equation by plotting the points and drawing a line and finding the slope of the line because we know that the slope is just the rise over the run

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the b value would just be the value when x is zero since if we plug zero in for x then y = b in the equaiton

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we can plug tht in right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For b yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so b will be -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so any other steps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to find the slope
