When the crest of one wave aligns with the trough of another wave the result is A:Constructive interference B:Destructive interference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@yrelhan4

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a :)

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

why?

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

i mean why a? why not b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh true becouse its destructive sorry im like half asleep :( im so tired

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

are you sure about it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk i stink in physics thats y i need someone to explain....

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

i hope you know what a crest and a trough is right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

so imagine it like this... when a crest and a crest align themselves.. the resultant crest will get bigger in size. and consequently here a trough and another trough will coincide, so the resultant trough will get bigger.. this is called constructive interference.. get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes...

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

similarly if a crest and a trough coincide, the resultant would be 0.. this is called destructive interference.. yeah?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

thats it. you have your answer.. and have you learned about phase difference yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no.

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

ok. so your answer is destructive interference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know ^.^
