thomaster (thomaster):

It's quite a list :) these are mosty elements with an abbreviation that is not logical to the english name: English name|Abrev|Latin name -Iron (Fe) = Ferrum -Lead (Pb) = Blumbum -nitrogen (N) = Nitrogenium -hydrogen (H) = Hydrogenium -Oxygen (O) = Oxygenium -Potassium (K) = Kalium -Copper (Cu) = Cuprum -Sodium (Na) = Natrium -Gold (Au) = Aurum -Silver (Ag) = Argentum -Tin (Sn) = Stannum -Mercury (Hg) = Hydrargyrum -Antimony (Sb) = Stibium We actually had to know the latin name of these elements in 9th grade (long time ago) in order to understand why the elements had such abbreviations :P

thomaster (thomaster):

Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen do have logical abbreviations by the way, just as most other elements that are not in this list

OpenStudy (aaronq):
