If f = {(4, 2), (6, 1), (8, 4), (10, 2), (12, 5)}, what is the range?

OpenStudy (jkristia):

do you know if the range is the input or output from a function? Each element is (x,y), where x is (input or output?) and y is input or output?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It doesn't say, they gave me the choice of these answers though if it'll help: {1, 2, 4, 5} all whole numbers {2, 1, 4, 2, 5} {4, 6, 8, 10, 12}

OpenStudy (jkristia):

Yes it would not say. y = f(x), means x is the input to the function f, and y is the output. The element (4,2) is always given as (x,y), meaning x is input, y is output.

?

OpenStudy (jkristia):

have you heard of a function ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

forget it I'll skip it, thanks though

OpenStudy (jkristia):

ok, the range is the y values, so the range is 1,2,4,5, notice 2 is duplicated, but should only appear once

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh now i get what you were previously saying, thanks :)
