For the function rule y = -2x - 3, provide the x-y coordinates of the y-intercept and the x-intercept.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the y-intercept, substitute x=0 -> y = -2(0) - 3 -> y = -3 For the x-intercept, use the re-written equation: x = (-y - 3)/2 -> set y=0 -> x = (-0 - 3)/2 -> x = -3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, y-intercept: (0, -3) x-intercept: (-3/2, 0)

so I don't graph anything?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You wouldn't have to graph, but I can draw you a graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically all im doing is substituting x and y with 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1369776498896:dw|Yes that's correct. The second substitution is slightly harder.

All good now, @Southern.Chiick ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes definitely! thanks a lot!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uw!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good luck to you in all of your studies and thx for the recognition! @Southern.Chiick
