The drawing shows a chemical reaction between hydroxide and bromomethane to produce methanol and bromide ion. The reaction is exothermic. Which of the following statements represents the correct order of energy states? A. A > B > C B. B > C > A C. A = B = C D. B > A > C ***My answer; B but i'm not too sure on this... :/ what do u think @.Sam. @abb0t ?:) drawing attached inside :)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

hydroxide reacting with bromomethane is a Sn2 reaction (organic chemistry) and is a 2nd order reaction. And I know that B is the intermediate....hmm...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so should it be A then? A>B>C ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay! thank you so much! :)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I'm guessing A or D :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay! :) i see :) thank youu :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah okay.. but you said that B was the intermediate right? so probably A ? since "B"is in between A and C right?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I meant intermediate as in it's the second step. This is a "two-step" reaction, 2nd order. The middle step is like a 1.5 step. Does that make sense? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it does :) thx a bunch!! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please check my other problem? I just have 2 more that i wanted to check :) the one i posted included!!! :D i tagged u :)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

|dw:1370116251473:dw| there, that's the graph of the reaction you have there :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1370116293899:dw| like that then? :)
