multiply the following polynomials, please help??
what will be the highest degree?
This is just the distributive property of multiplication: \[p(q+r+s) = pq + pr + ps\]
\[4a(a^2+7a+4) = 4a*a^2 + 4a*7a + 4a*4 = 4a^3 + 28a^2 + 16a\]Looks like that's correct!
No matter how complicated the polynomials you are multiplying together, it's just a matter of applying the distributive property over and over, then adding up the pieces. Every part of the first thing has to be multiplied with every part of the second thing.
Aah, that helped me understand, thank you!
Glad to help — this is a very important concept to understand well!
Okay, the same thing: \[(2y-3)(3y-2)\]We'll split the left half up with the distributive property:\[2y(3y-2) -3(3y-2)\]Now we'll do the same thing to each half:\[2y*3y-2*2y-3*3y-3*(-2)\] Can you simplify that?
B is the answer
for the first post
Yeah @drotzmann I got it, thanks
good to hear
Let's work it out: \[2y∗3y−2∗2y−3∗3y−3∗(−2) = \]\[6y^2 -4y -9y -(-6) = 6y^2-13y+6\] That wasn't quite what you got. Do you see where you went wrong?
Ohhh, Okay, i understand now, so it is D?
((Sorry A)) Thanks so much!
I don't see the answer list any more, so I'll have to trust that you picked the right one! :-)
