Simplify the expression, help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which expression?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

typing it now...

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

\[\huge 2k(k-4)+1(k-4)\]

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

can you solve it???? @trollface

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[(2k+1)(k-4) = 2k(k-4) + 1(k-4) = 2k*k - 2k*4 + k - 4\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Add up the pieces. \[2k*k = 2k^2 \]\[ -2k*4 = -8k \]\[ k=k\]\[ -4 = -4\] \[2k^2-8k + k -4 =\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

What do you get when you add those pieces? It may be more helpful for you to actually write it out by hand than to just look to see which answer appears to match.

Ohh, okay, i got it, its D

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yes. Do 50 jumping jacks or something to help get the blood flowing :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:o omg, I know Im a slow but I get the answer at the end eventually

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I think part of it might just be that you're tired. Attention to detail suffers, and little mistakes get made. A bit of exercise often helps fight that for a while.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that is true, its 6am (I have been awake all night :/, so maybe thats it
