Which of the following statements correctly compares the functions of a plant's roots and stem? The stem contains a high percentage of cells that provide structural support, unlike the roots. The stem is the first part of the plant to emerge from a seed, followed by the roots. The roots contain ground tissue that stores water and glucose, unlike the stem. The roots contain stomata that allow for gas exchange, while stems do not.
@amistre64 think you can help? :)
@DevinGT96 think you can help please?
hmmmmmmm.......i dont remember reading bout this perticular thing........ummmmmmm C would make sense to me but im not positive
That's what I thought at first but I think the stem is what stores it and the roots that collect it :/ but I'm not sure.......
the stem contains vascular tissue which transports water so that wouldnt exactly be correct.....the leaves and roots collect water.......ever notice before it rains the leaves on tree turn upside down? thats to help collect rain water
Well I know it's not B, and it doesn't look like C, I'm leaning towards D, what do you think?
ummmmm......im almost positive gas exchange doesnt occur in the roots thats what photosynthesis is so that would mean that D is wrong considering photosynthesis occurs with the leaves and i belive also in the stems of some plants
Ok... hmm @amistre64 any ideas?
do you recall the importance of cell walls in plants?
I think it help support the plant structure and store food right?
help support the structure is what i was thinking off ... roots dont play much role in keeping plants vertical
B sounds wrong, C sounds off, since the whole of a plant tends to be watery D ... im with Dev on, but cant be certain
Ok I'll go with A. :) Thank you so much!
You both helped a ton! Wish I could give 2 medals :(
Lol he gave none of you medals xD I gave one to Devin
was the answer a?
