If the circumference of the circle below is 42 cm, what is the length of AB ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

arc length/ 42 = 120/360 x/42 = 1/3 3x = 42 x = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14 :D

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Sorry, formula = arclength / C = angle measure of arc/ 360 deg

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Is that one of your answer choices, @atrabilious ? :)

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

always remember \[\huge \frac{arc~length}{circumference}=\frac{\angle~of~arc}{360}\] and plug the values in this equation and find the value of arc length ok... @atrabilious

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(120\div360)\times(2 pi r)=\] AB AB= 1/3 x 42 AB= 14

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

and you are correct, its 14 cm

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

lol thank you mayank

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

welcome jhanny
