Ok I've been very confused the last couple of days... About magnetism, magnetic force, magnetic pole strength, magnetic dipole moment, magnetic potential energy. All these ideas have created a confusion. I want to clear our each subject, and see what you think of it @gleem
*Magnetsim: A magnetic field is caused from the spin and alinement of electrons in a magnet's material. It could be explained as an effect in relativity. *Magnetic force: Is the force of attraction/repulsion between two poles that both consists of millions and millions of tiny dipoles attracting and repelling each other. *Magnetic pole strength: Is the strength of a pole measured in = \[A ⋅ m\] *Magnetic dipole moment: is a quantity that determines the force that the magnet can exert. *Magnetic potential energy: Is when a magnetic moment is exposed to a external magnetic field there is potential energy = \[U _{B} = -\mu \times B \]
Magnetic Dipole moment = \[A⋅m ^{2}\]
The thing that confuses me, is when a magnet attract a iron plate a thick large iron plate, it takes 20N to hold the plate and 20N to lift the magnet. That means that the iron plate is also attracted to the magnet, meaning it became magnetized? ***Another thing is: A magnet, or a electromagnet, will it react fully to a magnetic field? Regardless of that magnetic field strength level? Being high/low?*** And why can't we measure pole strength in Newtons? Because, I never found out a food way to measure it in A⋅m Magnetic dipole moment is not simple to find also! Really complicated stuff...
