Geometry Question: Which statement best explains why the same steps are used to construct the perpendicular to a line segment and the bisector on a line segment? The bisector of a line segment is the perpendicular bisector when using a compass and straightedge. Arcs and line segments have to be drawn for both constructions when using geometric measurement tools. The perpendicular to a line segment is always bisected by the line segment on which it is constructed. The same set of geometric tools is required for both constructions to ensure precision and accuracy.

B is true and a solid answer imo. can't tell you if it's the BEST though

C The perpendicular to a line segment is always bisected by the line segment on which it is constructed. is the answer B and Dare mere choices given to this MCQ! A - The bisector of a line segment is the perpendicular bisector when using a compass and straightedge. It's true but the perpendicular is not the only line that bisect a straight line! one can draw a slant line which still bisects the the given straight line. although this statement is true it doesn't answer the question! So i think C is the correct answer!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C implies that the only way to draw a line perpendicular to another is by bisecting the latter. bisecting (perpendicular at mid-point of line segment) I don't think it's the case, but please let me know if I'm wrong. @Mandila @Isabella1220

well since it got the word "always" you got a point! then A becomes the only possible answer and even I feel that's more convincing now! otherwise what answer do you suggest @Euler271

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking B. A seems like it is also saying that it is "every case". but it could be right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u foolow difffrnt steps to draw perpendicular and a bisector then u dnt have 2 b using arcs and line segments!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh. not aware of any, but in that case, A is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hehe me too! but i was just pointing out the rational! :)
