process after glycolysis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Recall that glycolysis *splits* glucose molecules into pyruvate molecules. Depending on the mode of respiration, the process afterward varies; in aerobic respiration, organisms typically convert the pyruvate into acetyl-CoA and CO2 in a process known as decarboxylation present in the mitochondria. The Krebs aka citric acid cycle then takes this acetyl-CoA and produces further NADH, which is oxidized by the electron transport chain.
