What is the relationship between the electric field strength at a point and its distance from the source charge?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

E=(1/4*pi*epsilon0) (Q/r^2) Q=charge r=distance electric field strength and electric field are the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your formula is correct but electric field strenght is the magnitude of the electric field.when question ask to electric field you must find both magnitude and direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank both of y'all

It is always assumed in electric field that one is working with positive charge. In that case, if we place another positive charge in that point, the field will be away from the second charge. If it is negative, it towards the first positive charge. Whatever the case, it will be on a straight line.
