3/x+5-2/x-3

What are you trying to do?

OpenStudy (pratyush5):

do you want to solve for x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solving it

OpenStudy (pratyush5):

it must be equal to something. shouldn't it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perform the indicated operation. inticed

Hmmm can you make the equation a little more clear... 3/x+5-2/x-3 is it supposed to be 3/x+(5-2)/(x-3) or something? otherwise if it is just: (3/x)+5-(2/x)-3 then you could simplify it to be (1/x)+2 and then find the root of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{3}{x+5}-\frac{2}{x-3}=\frac{3(x-3)-2(x+5)}{(x+5)(x-3)}\] is a start

you can clean up the numerator by using the distributive law and then combining like terms
