Q1.Following data represents the daily wages of workers of a garment factory in Rs.Prepare a frequency distribution table taking 5 Rs,as the width of the class interval: 200,196,192,188,186,184,180,178,191,187,183,179,177,175,173,171,169,158,156,173,150,157,155,153,151,148,146,163,159,155,151,149,147,145,143,141,158,154,150,156,144,142,140,138,146,153,150,143,136.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

@uri this is making me shiver already...

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

This is a long and annoying process... first you need to find the smallest and largest values....

OpenStudy (uri):

lol,This is actually the first chapter which includes numbers, other is theory @terenzreignz

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

yeah, I figured. it has been two years since I first read about this (it bored me to death)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

but, I'll help you get started... first, the smallest and largest values?

OpenStudy (uri):

Lol,like smallest to the largest number?

OpenStudy (uri):

200 is the largest.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

oh, well, sorting them from the smallest to the largest would make your job easier, but not REALLY necessary (for the moment). Yes, 200 is largest, the smallest?

OpenStudy (uri):

136 looks smallest to me :D

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay, now you need their difference...

OpenStudy (uri):

difference,as in?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I meant difference of 200 and 136, but I think that's also not needed (in the book I read, I'd be told the number of intervals I should have, and not the width of each interval) Anyway, the width of each interval is 5, right?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay, first, you need to know the intervals... Intervals take the form, for example, the first interval is 136 - 140 that's an interval. Following me so far?

OpenStudy (uri):

136 -140,what do we have to do..?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

for now, it's just an example of an interval. you'll get it later :) It just means 136 to 140 now the WIDTH of this interval is 5, because there are 5 possible values 136, 137, 138, 139, and 140 okay? :)

OpenStudy (uri):

We have to go from the smallest values to largest..? and the width is 5 so yeah..I get it.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay, so we need to identify ALL the intervals (that we need) starting with 136 to 140 What's the next interval? :)

OpenStudy (uri):

141 -145.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

That's good. Just name all the intervals (no need to post them here, I know you can do it) until you reach an interval that contains the highest value. that'd be 196 to 200, yes?

OpenStudy (uri):

Yes,So waste of time so i have to see how many intervals there are altogether?

OpenStudy (uri):

146 -150,151-155,156-160,161 -165,166 -170,171-175,176-180,181 -185,186-190,191 -195,196-200...:O

OpenStudy (uri):

13 intervals,If I am not wrong?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

nice SS uri. maybe I should unfan you to bring it back to yellow :D Just kidding Yeah, 13 intervals :) Ready for the next step?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Next step is the easiest and also the hardest :D

OpenStudy (uri):

Yes,ready :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

It's tallying... so help me this task is taxing... so much work... anyway, you just have to tally how many in your data set (that large list of numbers you have) corresponds to each interval. For example, for the interval 136-140, you have 2 entries (if I'm not mistaken) You have one "136" and one "140" Now you have to do the rest for all the other interval >:) Good Luck...

OpenStudy (uri):

um so the other interval is *141* and *145*

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Not quite, I'm sure there are 142's, 143's, 144's... did it occur to you that these also belong in the interval 141-145 ? :D

OpenStudy (uri):

I don't get this!! :(

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

don't worry... 141-145 that means all numbers between 141 and 145, including 141 and 145 themselves. I believe there are 6 of them in your data set... one 141 one 142 two 143's one 144 one 145

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

get it now? :)

OpenStudy (uri):

There are 5 set in one..

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

huh?

OpenStudy (uri):

wait..from 141 to 145 there are 5.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

No, see, what you're asked to do is to find how many 141's, 142's, 143's, 144's and 145's are in your data set. I believe I have already found all of them ^

OpenStudy (uri):

Oh how many in 40's?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

not quite, because you don't count the 46's onwards (yet) only from '41 to '45

OpenStudy (uri):

Why?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

because the interval is only 141 - 145 remember? :P

OpenStudy (uri):

Yes...so what do i have to do now?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

tally the rest :D

OpenStudy (uri):

Do one more for me..

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

sure :) The interval 146-150 okay? :)

OpenStudy (uri):

Okay?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

okay :) hang on...

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I saw 8 of them.... two 146's one 147 one 148 one 149 and finally three 150's that makes 8 entries that fall within 146 - 150

OpenStudy (uri):

Okay now let me try for 151-155.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

sure :)

OpenStudy (uri):

two 151 two 155 one 153 two 150 Um 7?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Yeah, 7 See? This is a horrendously annoying task :D Even though it's technically easy :P

OpenStudy (uri):

Omg,I did it! Okay now let me do others fast!

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I'm reposting the numbers here so I don't have to keep scrolling up and down... 200,196,192,188,186,184,180,178,191,187,183,179,177,175,173,171,169,158,156,173,150,157,155,153,151,148,146,163,159,155,151,149,147,145,143,141,158,154,150,156,144,142,140,138,146,153,150,143,136

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Wait a sec, why did you count the 150's ? There were already accounted for in the 146-150 part..

OpenStudy (uri):

Sorry 5.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

and there are two 153's (don't feel too bad if you're getting this wrong. I'm getting this wrong too :P)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

It's just a really annoying task.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

This is why I hate stats :D

OpenStudy (uri):

So there are 6? lol

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Hey @uri are you using chrome? Ctrl+F might be a godsend here :D

OpenStudy (uri):

Yes,chrome why? :D

OpenStudy (uri):

I pressed it,i don't know what happened..o_o

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

ctrl + F and just type the number you're looking for. chrome highlights them B)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

No, press and hold Ctrl and then press F

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

in the upper right, a new search bar should appear

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

did you do it? :D

OpenStudy (uri):

Smart,Now..from 156-159 = two 156 one 157 two 158 one 159

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

156-160 remember? :P

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Reposting again :P Partly to annoy you XD 200,196,192,188,186,184,180,178,191,187,183,179,177,175,173,171,169,158,156,173,150,157,155,153,151,148,146,163,159,155,151,149,147,145,143,141,158,154,150,156,144,142,140,138,146,153,150,143,136

OpenStudy (uri):

Yes,but there is no 160 ahhha :D

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

But then again, there are no 160 yeah XD

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

That makes 6, then? Okay, go for 161-165

OpenStudy (uri):

Lol okay that is not annoying me but helping meee!!

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I think there's just one. Double check?

OpenStudy (uri):

163 that's all.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

yup, so just the one. 166 - 170 ?

OpenStudy (uri):

169 only one :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

I think it's also just 1 :D

OpenStudy (uri):

171 -175: one 171 two 173 one 175 that is 4 :D

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

You seem to be getting the hang of it... (thank you google chrome XD )

OpenStudy (uri):

LOVE YOU GOOOOOOOGLE CHROME!! <33

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Too bad there's no Ctrl+F on normal books :3

OpenStudy (uri):

now 176 -180 one 177 one 178 one 179 one 180 that is 4.!

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

That's right LOL just 4 more to go :3

OpenStudy (uri):

181-185 one 183 one 184 that is 2.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

200,196,192,188,186,184,180,178,191,187,183,179,177,175,173,171,169,158,156,173,150,157,155,153,151,148,146,163,159,155,151,149,147,145,143,141,158,154,150,156,144,142,140,138,146,153,150,143,136

OpenStudy (uri):

186 -190 one 186 one 187 one 188 that is 3.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

correct again :D

OpenStudy (uri):

191-195 one 191 one 192 so 2

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

yup, just one more, and you're good to go :D

OpenStudy (uri):

196-200 one 196 one 200 that is 2

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

and we are done with frequencies, thank God... XD

OpenStudy (uri):

Yaay,Thanks ;)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

So, you have two columns now, one for the intervals... 136-140...etc One for the frequencies (the ones we were counting) You might have a column for the "Class Mark"

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

But don't worry, class mark is just the midpoint of each interval For example, the class mark of the interval 136-140 is 138

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

and so on.

OpenStudy (uri):

Got you :3,So for 141 to 145 is 143 right?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

... I can't believe you dragged me back into Statistics, I thought I had enough of this 2 years ago... (when I was 14 haha) anyway, it was fun though :3
