is there an answer way to remember whats what on a truth table?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

depends on what truth tables you're referring to

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and what logical operators you're using

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you have an example or two?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

something like this (r ^ q) v (~ p^ q)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know how to get to the negative but not the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like r ^ q how do you know if its true or false

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well r ^ q is only true if BOTH r AND q are true otherwise, r ^ q is false

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

p v q is only false if BOTH p AND q are false otherwise, it is true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok how about p^q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant remember all these things

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

p ^ q is only true if both are true otherwise it's false

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah it's a lot, so write them down on a sheet somewhere if you forget

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

here are some basic truth table formats http://www.millersville.edu/~bikenaga/math-proof/truth-tables/truth-tables.html
