hey guys...i am gearing up for a project.. i need help...please explain me the full mechanism about how a phone gets charged...
if you need a complete detail you need to read some books, but before you begin you need t undertsand what a galvanic cell is, and what an electrolytic cell is.. do you have a complete understanding of those?
@mashy,,yes actually i know how they both work... i want to knw more in particular about the cell phone charging,, also enlist me the books i can refer to,, and yes tell me if increasing the potential to charge the cell phone may damage the battery..or if increase in the current through it may get it damaged..!
If you're increasing the potential across a battery then you're going to increase the current. All batteries will have some limit to how much current they can withstand without damage. This is where battery specifications come in to play and should be reviewed before designing a charging circuit.
allright @Shane_B,,why is that then some cell phones charge more quickly then others?.. i mean no one would like to have a battery which takes 10 hours to get charged.. and is it only due to the material difference,,,that this thing occurs.??
Charging time really depends on the type of battery and the charging current. For instance, Apple uses batteries that charge at a higher rate of current than many other cell phones/tablets...so they charge faster. Yes, it mostly depends on how the battery is designed and the materials used.
