well then (x-1) is a factor of f(x)...because 1 makes f equal to zero\[f(x)=(x-1)g(x)\]\[f(1)=(1-1)g(1)=0\times g(1)=0\]makes sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

$$f(1)=0\implies f(x)=(x-1)g(x)$$this is the factor theorem
