Solve 3(x + 2) > x

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

distribute the 3 into (x+2) on the LHS of the inequality. (3)(x)+(3)(2) > x Simplify 3x + 6 > x bring the x's to one side and put the numbers on the other. Start by subtracting -x from both sides of the inequality. 3x-x+6 > -x +x +0 Simplify 2x + 6 > 0 Now subtract -6 from both sides 2x -6 + 6 > -6 Simplify 2x > -6 divide both sides by 2 2x/2 > -6/2 Simplify x > -3
